Other running AAR(s)

Note : I keep about 10 to 12 scenarios & CGs running at the same time.  While I play 4 of them in weekly live VASL sessions, the rest of them are PBeM.  About half of my games are CGs (some playtest CGs) and the rest scenarios.  I update my AARs as the games roll along and so this is a notice to my readers of AAR updates and completions.

ASL’rs Unofficial All Time Top 10

Roy“, an ASL’r on the GameSquad forums started a thread “Your all time top 10 scenarios“.  Seven pages later, it’s one of the more useful thread.

I compiled the list of scenarios cited with the intent of using it as my new Play List.  I hope it will be useful for you as well!!

The credit of course, goes to Roy.  Have the Best New Year!!

Here’s a link to the Google Sheet

KGS10 Red Ruins Roulette

In this scenario, the Russians win if they control the GPU prison (see the cluster of German concealment counters around KK35) and/or Block 31 (marked on the Map) in 5 turns. Historically Block 31 was notorious for being sniper infested, so any Sniper that situates in Block 31 Pins on a dr of 2 AND 3.

T001 Gavin Take

In this scenario, the US Paras win if they exited 1 or more squad equivalent and more Leader out hex Q10, which is where the road exits in the middle of the map. Any German exits increase the exit requirements for the US.

J188 Grab and Go

I am the German defenders.  While I believe in bringing all my guns up front, I am not backing up fast enough.  I am not happy about exchanging casualties with the Russians at the present ratio (slight more than 1:1) since there are twice as many Russians as the Germans!  Even though the Russians are spread out, they have 5 leaders in this scenario (these are the Guards Para!).

Series Replay : 8 The Fugitives (AH General Magazine)

This is something I wanted to do for the longest time – to pick up a copy of the Avalon Hill General Magazine (AHGM) and layout the Series Replay turn by turn – to see the action and to read the commentary!

This is the first one – published in AHGM vol 23 issue 2.  This was played only 3 weeks after Advanced Squad Leader was published.  The German player was Don Chappell, the Russian player Jim Block and the Neutral Commentator was Charles Kibler.

I have only gotten a turn done so far, but I am proud to have started.  I encourage you to pick up a copy of Avalon Hill General Magazine vol 23 issue 2 and follow along as well!!

I will be adding subsequent turns in the days ahead.
